Location

Sarriá is located in Barcelona’s zona alta near the Collserolla Natural Park. It was originally an affluent small town that was annexed to Barcelona at the beginning of the 20th century. It is for that reason that it has a charm difficult to find in elsewhere in Barcelona. Its church, which dates back to the 10th century, presides over a beautiful square where locals have breakfast or lunch al fresco. Its mostly pedestrian main street is filled with small delis, pastry shops, small restaurants, beauty salons, boutiques.... It has a century-old market which has recently been renovated and its parks are some of the city’s largest and most impressive: the Santa Amelia park, the Oreneta Park or the Collserola Park, whose Carretera de las Aguas attracts families, senior residents, cyclists or marathon runners alike; its 21 km (12.4 m) road is ideal for walking, running or biking and the views are simply breathtaking. Sarriá is also home to some of Barcelona’s best schools including Teresianas, San Ignacio, Oak House, BenjaminFranklin. In addition, it has an excellent transportation system, which includes buses and trains (Barcelona’s Ferrocarrils), and, as is the case with the other neighborhoods in the zona alta, one can easily access the rondas, highways and the airport.
